Receive text messages using SMS Chat
Welcome to the TextMagic SMS Chat introduction video.
SMS Chat allows businesses to deliver quick responses to urgent questions from customers, staff members and leads.
Using SMS Chat is very simple. Your open chats are located in the left column. And the active conversation is displayed in the right column.
To start a new conversation, click on the New Chat link and type the phone number or contact name of the person you want to chat with. After that, type your message. While you are typing, TextMagic will display the length and the cost of your message. When your message is ready, click Send. The message is sent immediately. When the message is delivered, you will see a green Check icon next to the message time.
Once your recipient replies to you, the message will appear in the chat. In order for you not to miss any incoming messages, the chat will become unread, make an incoming message sound and show a desktop notification. In SMS Chat you can use pre-saved templates, mail merge tags and file attachments. In addition, you can easily schedule your message to be sent at a specific future time.
However, if you want to set up a recurring sequence of messages or send messages in bulk, it is better to do this on the Compose page. SMS Chat is designed for quick 1-on-1 conversations with people, whereas the Compose page allows you to set up more complicated SMS marketing campaigns.
When a conversation comes to an end, you can easily close the chat and keep the focus on the conversations that still require attention. Closing a chat will not delete its history. You will find all your closed chats under the Closed tab. If a new incoming text message reaches your closed chat, it will be re-opened automatically and you will be notified by a sound and a notification.
You can also filter messages by date, export chat history into an Excel file, block contacts to stop unwanted messages or delete chat permanently. If you want to see more details about a specific message, click on the drop down menu next to it and select Message Details. When some chats become too busy, you can mute them so your focus on other important conversations is not lost. If notifications are not necessary, they can be turned off from the Notifications settings popup. Apart from sounds and desktop notifications, TextMagic can send you email alerts and push notifications to the mobile app about every incoming message.
TextMagic has all these, and many other, features – even with a trial account. Now you are ready to create an account and try out the SMS Chat during your free trial.
