Sending text messages in the USA & Canada
To start texting, you must complete the brand and use case (campaign) registration. This process typically takes 2 to 7 business days. Learn more about 10DLC and toll-free verification.
We strongly recommend using a toll-free number for messaging in both the USA and Canada. It supports higher throughput and is better suited for a wide range of use cases.
Sending texts to the USA
To send text messages to the USA, you need to use either a verified toll-free or a verified 10DLC number.
Toll-free numbers: These must be verified to avoid blocking and ensure your messages reach your audience. Verification usually takes up to 5 business days. You’ll need to provide details like your business name, use case, opt-in method, and sample messages.
10DLC numbers: You’ll need to register your brand (EIN required) and campaign. Approval usually takes up to 7 business days. Make sure you describe your use case clearly, share your opt-in process, and ensure your privacy policy explains that mobile information won’t be shared with third parties for marketing.
Sending texts to Canada
In Canada, you can use either a verified toll-free number or a local Canadian number (which must be requested from support).
Toll-free numbers: These must be verified to avoid blocking and ensure your messages reach your audience. Verification usually takes up to 5 business days. You’ll need to provide details like your business name, use case, opt-in method, and sample messages.
Local Canadian numbers: These are for private, one-on-one communication only. Bulk messaging, alerts, or notifications are not allowed.
Tip: Always get consent before sending messages and include opt-out and help instructions: “Reply STOP to unsubscribe” and “Reply HELP for help.”
