How Textmagic billing works
Hey everyone, it’s Kevin. Today, I’m breaking down how billing works in TextMagic, from pay-as-you-go credits to monthly plans, auto recharge, rollover refunds, and everything in between. Let’s get into it. TextMagic uses a one hundred percent prepaid billing system.
That means you always pay upfront and every message, email, virtual number, or service you use gets deducted from your prepaid balance. To see your billing setup, head to the billing page and click on plans. TextMagic offers three options, the essential pay as you go plan, the professional monthly plan, and the connect plan for your BYOC users. Let’s start with the essential, the pay-as-you-go option.
With this plan, you buy prepaid credit and pay standard rates for all services. There are no commitments, and your prepaid credit never expires. Next is the professional monthly plan. Here you choose a monthly credit bundle based on the volume you expect to send.
The larger the bundle, the lower the cost per outbound text. You also get one free virtual number or a free sender ID if you’re in the UK or Australia. Monthly credits roll over for up to two months then expire. The connect plan is also a monthly plan, but it’s specifically designed for businesses that use their own CPaaS.
If you already send messages through Twilio, Vonage, Cintra, Bandwidth, you can connect that provider to TextMagic with a simple no-code setup and use all of TextMagic’s tools with your existing pricing. Across all plans, you can click buy credit in the TextMagic web app at any time to top up your balance. This button simply adds prepaid credit. It doesn’t change your plan.
If this is your first purchase, clicking buy credit means you’re starting on the essential pay as you go plan. TextMagic automatically applies the correct pricing based on your plan. If you’re on essential, you pay standard rates. If you’re on a professional monthly plan, you continue getting discounted message rates even when you add extra prepaid credit on top of your monthly bundle.
What happens when your balance is low or you need to send messages beyond your credit package? The auto recharge setting is always enabled making sure you never run out credits. Now let’s clear up a common question, the difference between the pricing page and actual billing. On the marketing pricing page, the prices you see are estimates based on the destination and services you select.
They’re designed to help you compare messaging costs, not exact bundles you’ll be billed for. Inside your TextMagic account, the billing system uses fixed prepaid credit bundles. For essential pay as you go, that means bundles from twenty to ten thousand credits. For monthly plans, you choose fixed monthly bundles based on your messaging volume.
Available bundles and currencies depend on your account settings and the region you’re in. To recap, TextMagic offers three options to top up your account depending on your preferred payment method and message sending frequency. If you just want flexibility, you can stick with the simple pay as you go essential plan and buy credits whenever you need them. If you send texts more frequently, the professional plan offers predictable costs, discounted SMS rates, and a free virtual number.
And if you already use a CPaaS provider like Twilio, Vonage, Sentra, Bandwidth, the connect plan allows you to integrate that directly with TextMagic. So no matter your volume or setup, there’s a billing option that fits your work style. Switching plans is easy. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the plans page by clicking select plan on the one you want.
You can manage your payment methods, auto recharge settings, and cost summary on the billing page. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. TextMagic never stores your card details and offers a money back guarantee, allowing you to request a refund for any unused prepaid balance. And that’s it.
